Résumé

Ce film est un "western économique" qui nous raconte comment depuis le XVIe siècle, la Bolivie est pillée par tous types de Conquistadors.

In the style of a western, "The Accursed Wealth of Altiplano" tells how Bolivia has been plundered by all manner of Conquistadors from the 16th century to the present day. Francisco Quisbert has been all sorts of things in his time: a miner, a farmer and even a trade unionist. To explain why a country that has such an abundance of raw materials is so poor, he has become a journalist and is working on a series of reports on the business that has grown up around Bolivian natural resources. Via his investigation, we learn about the Indians' struggle for wealth to be shared out fairly between multinational consortiums and local populations. The film intimates that the Conquistadors are not dead after all: they have merely exchanged their pointed helmets for attach-cases.
