"When my retired father nearly died from a heart attack, I decided to make a film about him. My directing methods (which some have described, for this film, as "ruthless"), as well as my dad's dubious acting efforts, ended up generating both absurd and intimate dialogues which mostly occurred between the takes. I therefore decided to edit the film as the "making of" for an initial film that was never finished. 13 Attempts to Shoot my Father ended up being the tragicomic journey of a director-son and his actor-father and our attempts at overcoming, with the help of a camera, our inability to communicate."
