At age 42, my aunt France is summing up her life. Several years had gone by since I had last seen her. As a child, I had followed her transformation during holidays and family reunions. It had seemed simple and natural, without the slightest signs of drama or taboo. It had never found that anyone in our circle has taken offence. Today, I am interviewing the three main protagonists involved in this story : France, Maria and Jacques, her parents and my grand-parents. As they look back on this atypical journey through, life they remember, respond and protect each other, without actually seeing each other. The puzzle takes shape once again before my camera, which at times I cannot keep from trembling. I discover that things were not as simple as I imagined them in my childhood. Beyond the extraordinary relationship that these three characters have woven together, the film draws a vision of family, love and tolerance.
