"The Adventures of Louis Sclavis", 47-year-old French clarinettist Louis Sclavis is very much in demand today. Although he performs almost every day, with different musicians and orchestras, he does not rest on his laurels. He tries to make time available to explore his craft and improve his technique. The dynamics of a live concert remains his prime motivation and concern. "Music does not just exist" he says, "it’s the orchestra and the memory of the musicians who bring music to life". For almost ten years now – and particularly during two memorable African tours – he performs with drummer Aldo Romano and double bass player Henri Texier. "A trio is by no means an orchestra" according to Louis. "Just three musicians with the same intensity...". And with this intensity, the trio has found a large audience with their recordings "Carnet de route" and "Suite Africaine".
