Résumé

Pas de résumé français disponible.

Yoon follows the regular round trip taken by Senegalese carrier Mbaye Sow, on an old Peugeot 504, along the 4000 km that separate the two places he calls home, Portugal and Senegal. It’s a perilous and lonesome journey, filled with (mis)encounters and challenges.

"Yoon in the language of the Senegalese Wolof ethnic group means "journey" – whether it is the distance to be covered or the process of moving from one place to another. This is the journey that the protagonist, Mbaye, embarks on. In an ever-repeating cycle, he buys a second-hand car in Portugal, loads it with goods to sell and items to deliver to others, and sets off on a 4,500-kilometre drive to his native Senegal. The post-modern traveler spends the immensely long and lonely journey worrying about whether he will reach his destination at all and calling his relatives and recipients of the packages he delivers along the way. "Yoon addresses the trade of outdated cars, the life strategies of routiers and the grey areas that are traversed in an activity that takes place between Portugal and Senegal.""
