Feature film about the trial of the nazi's against the alleged arsons of the Reichstag. Georgi Dimitrov, leader of the comintern, who stood trial with Marinus van der Lubbe, knew to forcefully plea himself free. During the shooting of the film Von Wangenheim took over directing more and more and in the end neither Ivens' name, nor Helen van Dongen's appeared on the credits.
