Résumé

Film non terminé et perdu.

Unfinished documentary.
The founder and director of the Cinémathèque Française, Henri Langlois made a long cherished wish come true by making a film about Marc Chagall. Chagall, born in Russia and living in France, proposed to film his life story just by filming his paintings. As early as 1952 the first recordings were made. In 1954 Langlois asked Ivens to supervise the processing of the big amount of footage. Because of this Ivens and Chagall met several times, after which Ivens edited the film in November 1958 in Paris. After that Langlois wanted to add new footage and the film disappeared.
