Résumé

Trung et Thi vivent au nord-ouest du Vietnam, à la frontière laotienne. Comme beaucoup de jeunes hommes de cette région sur la route de l’héroïne entre le Laos et la Chine, ils sont héroïnomanes et séropositifs. Thi s’accroche à la vie et à son couple. Il est déterminé à se désintoxiquer. Trung a choisi la mort, il refuse les traitements médicaux et plonge corps et âme dans la drogue. Portrait intime et tragi-comique de deux jeunes en manque, de leurs épouses, familles, médecins et amis, qui tous tentent de les sortir du gouffre.

Thi and Trung live in the gorgeous, rice-terraced mountains of Vietnam’s far northwest. Like many young men in this region on the main heroin route from Laos to China, they’re addicts, and they have HIV. Thi wants to kick his habit. Trung just wants to die. An intimate, tragicomic portrayal of two guys strung out at the edge of the map in a country struggling with drug use, and of the wives, family, doctors and friends trying to pull them back from the brink.
