Nelson Freire

Nelson Freire tells the story of the eponymous piano-playing prodigy who went on to become an international legend and the man they call "the pianist’s pianist". Filmed in Brazil, France, Belgium, and Russia, the documentary follows Freire in his concerts and recitals, from his first contact with the piano as a child, to backstage receptions with. The film’s gorgeous soundtrack includes Freire’s performances of Brahms, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Bach, Gluck, and Villa-Lobos, in addition to a Rachmaninoff duet with Martha Argerich.
