Résumé

Intimité queer au Ghana.

He may live thousands of miles from his homeland, Ghana, but Kwame Edwin Otu has a hard time admitting to his mother that he is attracted to men. In a halting, delicate, almost poetic letter that exudes love, he explains to his mother that despite all the warmth and support that he always got from her, “In Ghana I always fled from myself,” and asks for her permission to bring his true self home. This is a stunning, intensely intimate short film by noted director Akosua Adoma Owusu, considered one of the most original voices in documentary filmmaking.
