Résumé

Pas de résumé français disponible.

A sensory experience and fantasy which explores the uncomfortable voyeurism of the selfie and Big Brother. Through distorted images we see the skyline through the lens of an all-seeing eye, while robot voices warn us that driverless cars are being towed away, or instruct us on how to buy a metro ticket. This is a life under permanent technological control, a mechanization of everyday life.
The uncanny images show a city in which we’re surrounded by hundreds of machines that tell us how to behave, without our even realizing it. Meanwhile, we fervently take selfies, presenting ourselves as if we were in a commercial. The contrast between the culture of fear and the narcissistic self-portrait raises questions. What are we actually looking at, and who’s looking at us?
Nayra Sanz Fuentes took her inspiration from Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick, and Foucault’s theories about dystopias. Perhaps this imaginary society has already become reality.
