In June 1970, Bruno Bréguet, a barely twenty-year-old high school student, is arrested in Israel while trying to smuggle explosives into the country for the Palestinian resistance. He is sentenced to seven years in prison. During his imprisonment he becomes radicalised and after his release joins the group around the terrorist Carlos. Bréguet devotes himself entirely to the search for his personal vision of social justice. He is involved in several attacks and experiences two great love stories at the same time. In 1995, he mysteriously disappears from a ferry between Italy and Greece. After an initial media hype, silence falls over Bréguet and he disappears from public discussion. Many unanswered questions remain.
In the encounter with Bréguet’s former Ticino companions, comrades and friends, his case is reconstructed. The memory of their turbulent past is a portrait of the morals of a generation that wanted to do everything in its power to make the world a fairer place. But beyond that, it is also a current and critical examination of the meaning of civil disobedience and militant resistance.
